Choose the healthcare documentation route that matches how work begins

Dictated notes and clinician-patient conversations are different starting points

Healthcare documentation does not follow one universal workflow. Some teams begin with a clinician dictating a note or report, then route the recording to a Typist or use AI Speech Recognition to prepare editable text. Other teams want a supported clinician-patient conversation to become a structured clinical-note draft through Health AI Assistant.

DictaMic helps healthcare organizations separate those routes and qualify the people, account, capture method, hardware and security-review path.

TWO HEALTHCARE WORKFLOW ROUTES

Start with how the documentation begins

Separate dictated notes from consultation-based clinical documentation before choosing the workflow.

Start with the documentation problem, not the product name

Choose a dictated workflow when a clinician already knows what needs to be documented and wants to record or upload a dictation for transcription, speech recognition or staff review. This route can preserve an established Author-to-Typist process while adding mobile, browser or supported recorder capture.

Choose the Health AI route when the intended input is a supported clinical consultation and the desired output is a structured draft for clinician review. Health AI can support work before, during and after the consultation, but it does not replace the underlying SpeechLive platform or the clinician’s responsibility.

If neither description is clear enough, start with the current process: who speaks, who reviews, what document is needed and where it must go.

Route A: dictated healthcare workflow

Capture, route and complete a known document

In a dictated workflow, the clinician or other authorized Author records a note or report through a supported mobile app, browser recorder or dictation device. SpeechLive then makes the work available through the configured routing process.

A Typist can open an assigned dictation, listen to the audio and prepare or correct the document. An administrator or Office Manager can support the configured users and workflow. Optional AI Speech Recognition produces recognized text for human review, not a Health AI clinical-note draft.

This route fits teams that need an established dictation handoff or speech-to-text path.

Route B: consultation-based Health AI workflow

Capture a supported conversation and prepare a structured draft

Health AI Assistant adds a clinical-documentation layer to SpeechLive. Supported background material can help with preparation. During the consultation, Health AI can capture natural conversation, distinguish speakers in supported conditions and accept added or edited notes and facts. Afterward, it can prepare a structured clinical-note draft and supported related documents.

The clinician reviews the facts, corrects the draft, applies medical judgment and approves the final documentation. Available templates, languages, note types, account access and workflow behavior must be qualified for the intended setting. Visit Health AI Assistant for the detailed product workflow.

Compare the two healthcare routes

Decision point Dictated workflow Health AI workflow
Primary input A deliberate dictation or uploaded recording A supported clinician-patient consultation plus configured context
Primary output A managed dictation job, human transcription or editable recognized text A structured clinical-note draft and supported related drafts
Typical participants Author, Typist, administrator or Office Manager Clinician, clinical operations, administrator, IT and security reviewers
Capture approach Mobile app, browser recorder or supported dictation hardware Supported consultation capture; SpeechMike Ambient is one option to qualify
Review responsibility The responsible professional or team reviews the completed document or recognized text The clinician reviews and corrects the draft and retains medical judgment
Appropriate next action Map capture, routing, staffing and optional speech recognition Qualify the consultation workflow, account, templates, hardware and security route

Both routes can exist in one organization, with different people, controls and review steps.

People, systems and responsibilities

  • Clinician or Author: records the dictation or conducts the consultation and remains responsible for professional judgment and the final documentation.
  • Typist or documentation staff: transcribes, corrects or formats assigned work where the configured SpeechLive workflow permits it.
  • Clinical operations lead: defines the approved process, templates, training and quality controls.
  • Administrator or Office Manager: manages users, roles and available workflow settings.
  • IT, security and privacy reviewers: evaluate the proposed clients, access controls, data handling, destination systems and organizational requirements.
  • DictaMic: maps the workflow, qualifies the current product and account route, guides compatible hardware selection, supports onboarding and trains the team on the approved process.

Health AI Assistant, AI Speech Recognition, Professional AI Assistant and Legal AI Assistant are product capabilities or layers—not SpeechLive user roles. Professional and Legal AI serve different document workflows and should not be substituted for the healthcare routes described here.

Clinician review and medical-use boundary

Health AI output is a draft that may be incomplete or incorrect. A qualified clinician must review and correct it, but Health AI must not be relied on as the sole source of truth or used for diagnosis, treatment, patient-care decisions or other decisions with significant implications for individuals. It is not a medical device and does not provide a diagnosis. The clinician and customer remain responsible for professional judgment, final documentation and its use.

AI Speech Recognition output also requires human review. Neither route creates an accuracy, completeness or clinical-outcome guarantee.

Qualify security, integrations and hardware before rollout

DictaMic will identify who needs access, how work moves, what system receives the document, which capture devices are planned and what technical evidence is required.

Use Security and Privacy for current evidence about hosting, encryption, access controls and AI data handling. A product page, badge or consultation answer does not establish customer-specific HIPAA, GDPR, certification or other compliance. The healthcare organization remains responsible for its legal basis, notices, consents, policies and approved use.

Named EHR, HIS, Dragon or other integration requirements must be checked individually through Integrations. Exact microphones, recorders, foot controls, clients and operating systems belong on Hardware and Compatibility. SpeechMike Ambient is a capture option associated with Health AI, not a universal requirement or automatic inclusion.

Plans, pricing and trial boundaries

The route can depend on account status, plan, optional speech recognition, Health AI eligibility, users and configuration. Current U.S. pricing, billing, tax, bundle, usage and offer details belong on Plans and Pricing.

This page does not promise a Health AI trial or imply that the general SpeechLive workflow trial includes an AI Assistant. It also does not publish a hardware promotion. DictaMic will identify the appropriate current commercial route after the workflow is understood.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between the two healthcare routes?

The dictated route starts with a deliberate dictation and produces a managed job, human transcription or editable recognized text. The Health AI route starts with a supported clinical consultation and prepares a structured clinical-note draft for clinician review.

Can we keep our existing Author and Typist process?

Yes, where the account and configuration support it. Clinicians or other Authors can record or upload dictations, and assigned Typists can access the audio and prepare or correct documents. DictaMic will map roles and permissions before setup.

Is AI Speech Recognition the same as Health AI?

No. AI Speech Recognition converts speech into editable text. Health AI adds a clinical-documentation layer that prepares structured drafts from a supported consultation workflow. Both require human review, but their inputs and outputs differ.

Can one organization use both routes?

Yes. Different departments or document types may need different paths. DictaMic can map which work should remain routed dictation and which supported consultations should be evaluated for Health AI.

Who approves the final clinical documentation?

The responsible clinician or healthcare organization approves the final documentation under its established process. Health AI and speech-recognition output require review and correction. Review does not permit Health AI use for diagnosis, treatment, patient care or another significant clinical decision.

Will SpeechLive work with our EHR, hardware and existing tools?

That requires qualification. DictaMic will review the destination system, integration method, client, current plan and exact hardware model. This page does not promise universal EHR, HIS, Dragon or device compatibility.

Where can we review pricing, security and trial options?

Use Plans and Pricing for current U.S. commercial details and Security and Privacy to review current technical and privacy information. The general SpeechLive trial does not establish Health AI trial entitlement.

What should we include in a healthcare workflow consultation request?

Describe the type of organization, user roles, current documentation process, desired output, account status and whether security or integration review is needed. Do not submit patient information, names, recordings, dictated content, medical details, credentials or clinical documents.
