Evidence for due diligence—not a customer-specific compliance determination

Security review begins with a specific SpeechLive configuration: who records, where files enter the service, which users can access them, whether recognition or an AI Assistant is involved, and which integrations or external services are enabled.

This summary uses current official information reviewed September 18, 2026. Legal, regulatory, contractual and client requirements still need qualified customer review.

EVIDENCE, NOT A BADGE WALL

Review the complete processing path

Source review date: September 18, 2026. Statements are limited to the documented U.S. product path and do not determine customer-specific compliance.

01

Encryption

AES-256 for stored dictations; encrypted HTTPS channels for documented transfers.

02

Identity

Administrator-enforced email MFA and configured Microsoft single sign-on are documented.

03

U.S. region

The current Philips page identifies Microsoft Azure in Boydton, Virginia for the U.S. service region.

04

AI processing

Current official sources state that data in the documented recognition and AI scope is not used to train AI models.

05

Retention

Administrators can restore accidentally deleted dictations for up to 30 days; this is not a complete retention policy.

06

Review boundary

Certification, legal and compliance conclusions require current scope evidence and customer-specific review.

Qualification required

No blanket HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, ISO, EU AI Act, uptime, universal-location, no-storage or no-subprocessor claim is made.

Encryption and platform protection

Current Philips sources state that SpeechLive uses AES-256 encryption for stored dictations and encrypted HTTPS channels for relevant transfers. Audio sent to SpeechLive speech recognition uses encrypted client-to-server and server-to-server connections, and transcriptions use a secure SignalR HTTPS connection.

Those statements apply to the documented SpeechLive paths. They should not be extended to every connected product, third-party system or customer-controlled endpoint without separate evidence.

Account and access controls

SpeechLive documents email-based multi-factor authentication that an account administrator can enforce. It also documents Microsoft single sign-on when activated and configured for the organization.

Availability and setup can depend on the account, plan and configuration. Your review should confirm identity ownership, administrator roles, user lifecycle, least-privilege expectations and the controls applied to connected Microsoft accounts.

Hosting and service region

Philips identifies Microsoft Azure as the hosting platform for SpeechLive dictations and file attachments. For the United States service region, the current security page identifies Boydton, Virginia, United States as the Azure hosting location.

That location statement is limited to the documented U.S. service region. It does not establish that every processor, subprocessor, integration, support activity or customer-controlled export remains in that location. Region selection and the complete processing path require customer-specific review.

Speech recognition and AI processing

Current official sources state that customer data within the documented SpeechLive speech-recognition and AI Assistant processing scope is not accessible to OpenAI and is not used to train AI models. Philips describes processing in a dedicated, isolated Azure environment.

Storage behavior differs by client. For desktop or mobile speech recognition, the documented audio and text pass through servers without being saved there. In the web version, audio and transcription are stored temporarily during recognition and then deleted automatically; resulting files are stored in encrypted form in the customer’s SpeechLive account.

These distinctions matter. SpeechLive should not be described as storing nothing, using no external providers or following one universal data path.

Retention, deletion and recovery

Current Philips security material states that an account administrator can restore accidentally deleted dictations for up to 30 days. That recovery window is not the same as a complete retention schedule, account-cancellation rule or legal-hold process.

Before approval, confirm the retention and deletion requirements for the selected workflow, client, service, account, exports, backups and connected systems. DictaMic will not promise a customer-specific retention result without current supporting terms.

Vendors, subprocessors and external services

Philips’ security page describes external partner agencies for the optional human transcription service, with encrypted transfer and deletion after transcription. The U.S. General Terms also state that external service providers may process Speech Data and may process it in other countries subject to applicable safeguards and the Data Processing Agreement.

The current U.S. Privacy Policy identifies service providers used for functions such as hosting, identity, customer care, analytics and payment processing. A security review must distinguish the SpeechLive product path from website, payment, support, integration and optional-service paths.

Privacy roles and customer responsibilities

The current U.S. Privacy Policy distinguishes activities where Speech Processing Solutions handles personal data for its own purposes from processing performed on behalf of customers under a Data Processing Agreement. The U.S. General Terms place responsibility on customers to establish a lawful basis, obtain required consents and supervise authorized use.

For AI services, customers must also ensure appropriate AI literacy, qualified review, user guidance and verification. Security controls do not remove the need for professional review or authorize prohibited legal or clinical uses.

Certifications, compliance and availability claims

Philips pages display compliance and certification badges. The applicability of those statements depends on the selected service, current certificate or contractual scope, configuration and customer responsibilities. DictaMic therefore does not make blanket HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, ISO or EU AI Act compliance claims. Request the current supporting evidence for qualified review.

The public security page attributes 99.9% uptime to Microsoft Azure. No SpeechLive customer SLA, measurement method, exclusions or remedy has been verified, so DictaMic does not present a 99.9% SpeechLive guarantee.

Use the current SpeechLive Trust Center, legal terms and security material as inputs to your organization’s own review. A badge, standard or Trust Center does not by itself establish customer-specific compliance.

Frequently asked questions

Is SpeechLive HIPAA compliant?

Philips displays HIPAA-related language and badges. Whether a specific workflow satisfies your organization’s requirements depends on the selected service, configuration, contractual safeguards and customer responsibilities. Request current contractual and technical evidence and review it with qualified counsel.

Is SpeechLive ISO 27001 certified?

Philips displays ISO 27001-related claims. Certification scope, issuing body and current validity should be confirmed for the selected service before relying on that statement. Request the current certificate and scope for review.

Where is U.S.-region SpeechLive data hosted?

The current Philips security page identifies Microsoft Azure in Boydton, Virginia for the U.S. service region. That does not establish the location of every processor, integration, support activity or export.

Does SpeechLive use customer data to train AI models?

Current official sources state that customer data is not used to train AI models within the documented SpeechLive speech-recognition and AI Assistant processing scope. Confirm the selected product, processing path and current terms during review.

Is any audio or text stored during speech recognition?

It depends on the client. Philips states that desktop and mobile recognition data passes through servers without being saved there, while the web version stores audio and transcription temporarily during recognition before automatic deletion. Resulting files are stored encrypted in the SpeechLive account.

Can deleted dictations be recovered?

The current security material states that an account administrator can restore accidentally deleted dictations for up to 30 days. This is not a complete retention, cancellation or legal-hold policy.

Does SpeechLive guarantee 99.9% uptime?

DictaMic does not state that guarantee. The public page attributes 99.9% uptime to Azure, but no SpeechLive customer SLA, measurement definition, exclusions or remedy has been verified.

What should we prepare for a security review?

Identify the products and clients you expect to use, organization type, user roles, integrations, service region, retention requirements and the security topics your reviewers need addressed. Do not submit patient information, legal-matter details, recordings, dictated content, documents, credentials, account secrets or confidential system details.

Request a focused review

DictaMic can help organize current product facts and route unresolved questions to the appropriate official material. The review supports your due diligence; it does not make an eligibility, compatibility or compliance determination.

Permitted intake context is limited to security topics, product interest, organization type, integration interest and source page.

If the intake route is unavailable, use the current official Philips U.S. legal and security sources or request a consultation.

Scope the review

Request a focused security and technical review

Use general product, organization and security-topic context only. Do not submit patient information, legal-matter details, recordings, dictated content, documents, credentials, account secrets or confidential system details.
